A fifteen year old 36 ft. used one goes for a bit under 200K and new
ones in the 40 to 45 ft. range close to 1 mil. It's quite an eye
opener for those of us that last bought a new boat 15 years ago.
Tell me about it. My 33 footer from 1973 cost me less than a new
minivan in 1999...that would cover the genset, a windlass and a radar
for the next boat.
Talking to brokers helps, even if you don't use their services. As you
are in Toronto, I will recommend George Ward of Ward Yachts, who is
quite the salty veteran and can be refreshingly frank about the pluses
and minuses of modern production boats in the offshore context. G
