Default Winterizing Air Conditioning

asked how to winterize his Air Conditioning...

================================================== =======

It's basically like winterizing everything else. Close the seacock
for your circulation pump inlet, loosen the hose clamp, remove A/C
hose from seacock, connect hose to your winterizing bucket (containing
a couple of gallons of non toxic antifreeze), open the valve on the
bucket, turn your A/C to the "start" position, wait for antifreeze to
emerge from side of boat, turn your A/C to "off", and reconnect the
hose to the seacock.

Since you need AC power for the circulating pump, it is easiest to do
this in the water when you still have shore power or the ability to
run your generator. If you don't yet have a winterizing bucket you
need to make or buy one. Mine is a 5 gallon pail with a small
thruhull fitting and ball valve near the bottom. Attach 3 or 4 feet
of clear PVC hose to the ball valve and use PVC inline adapters at the
free end that will couple up with whatever needs winterizing.

In the spring just open the seacock and you are good to go. Check for
water circulation before switching your A/C to the "run" position.
