I tried to obtain one online tonight. I tried entering the hull number, but
it was too many characters.
I tried entering the temporary number...actually, I don't have anything
called a temporary number...just an "Official Number" that is on the "letter
that confirms that this office is in the process of applying for
Documentation of the above referenced vessel for it's owner(s)."
It said that the vessel already had a permit...which it doesn't. I also
went to the page where it will allow you to look up info with a permit
number, but the permit number wasn't found in the system. I guess I'll have
to call tomorrow again. Sigh.... I know I'm gonna get the run around too.
This can't be uncommon. People buy boats every day. Don't people that buy
fishing boats normally want to FISH on them when they buy them? I can't
believe that there is not some system in place better than this. I'm really
frustrated!
Thanks for the help though Tom! If I get anywhere, I'll keep ya posted.
Please do. I'm curious about this.
I wouldn't settle with a clerk though - take it up the chain for a
little and see how it works.
Later,
Tom
