Actually..they could if they wanted to.
And if they were serious about it, you would be walking along, minding
your own business and pop pop pop, some fellow would put 3 22lr rounds
in the back of your neck. This of course severs the spinal cord,
ruptures the nerve gangula at the base of your brain stem. You will
become instantly paralyised, even if the bullets dont kill you, it
will wipe out your autonomic nervous system, and you will forget to
breath. Death takes about 3 minutes before you loose conciousness
(roughly) and you will be starving for air all that time..as the
lights slowly fade out and you pinpoint that last little bit of
sight....then about two minutes later brain death sets in as it rounds
out of O2 and the synapses start firing at random.
Your body may or may not l "Do the Chicken" as motor nerves also fire
at random due to the brain stem being severed. The body may kick
itself in any direction, even upside down. But you wouldnt notice.
