Don't know anything about the Sony but my buds just got back from a 10
day trip to the Wabakimi Region in Canada and the this pixs on the
page below were all done with the new 4 megapix Pentax Optio 43WR.

We've been using the WR film version WR90 and the WR105 from Pentax
and have swam with them many times and even had it underwater in a
pinned boat for at least 15 minutes and no leaks whatsoever. Assuming
that Pentax has the same WR standard for the WR digitals this new
digital WR little camera should be great for boating. A cool bonus is
that as with most of the new still digicams you can also capture mini
movies with it.

This little cam is quite small and will fit very nicely in the pocket
of any PFD. I am a pro photog and I must say that I'm quite impresed
with this little WR point and shoot digital. It is definetly on my
wish list.
