I work in a leisure centre, we have people asking stuff like that all the
time. All the coaches the have clubs with us know we give their numbers out
to people. I'd expect it to be the same everywhere. After all, if you're
going to run a club you need to have some way for new members to contact
you. Just to let you know, we have a young disabled girl in the club, she's
about 16 and is (not sure of the correct way to put this) mentally and
physically a bit "behind". She kayaks in the surf (ickle surf), down the
rivers, and in the pool. Amazingly she also gorge walks with us, although
we have to haul her out on ropes. There's is hope for you, if she can do it
anyone can! =D

Whoops. Award for lateral thinking, there! I'll give it a go on
Monday. Worst thing that can happen is they have a confidentiality
thing and won't be able to give me the info.

I suppose if that doesn't work out, some people *do* use the canal,
only I'm not sure how I'd contact them (Apart from hanging out by the
bank...), or if I'd feel secure enough in that environment to actually
learn anything properly; water's somewhat icky and I'm pretty scared
of Weil's disease.
