I'm on your side with the Cabo Rico 38 in most respects and I think she'd
possibly beat an Express 30 over a long haul. But the Express will be faster
otherwise and point higher.
The Cabo Rico rates about 185, while the Express rates a MUCH faster 135.
Without a current, the CR 38 was not doing 11 knots for more than a few moments
at a time. I could easily imagine her surging beyond 9 knots for periods, on a
reach with a LOT of wind. If the CR 38 hull could do 11 knots sustained she'd
be winning many many many races beating J Boats.
