Yes, I am using the same clutch plate pack. The spacers are metal
washers so I don't think there is any wear there. The clutch plates
still have all the ridges on them so I think that they are OK as well.
It requires a great deal of pressure to compress this pack to take it
apart. A new pack may solve the problem and I would be willing to give
it a try. I have searched and have been unable to locate a source for
a new one. Do you have any ideas who a person could contact? You are
correct it is a wet clutch system which requires it to be filled with
OMC 4 cycle oil. I have been using Quaker State 10-40.

Click on "Disc Plate & Shim Kit"
I used to buy a lot of OMC parts at a marine store in Reseda California
called "The Anchor" Phone is (818) 343-1921. If the web sites don't help,
call them. They are pretty knowlegable and can probably help you. Also,
its good to know that a lot of people refer to these drives as "OMC
stringer" or "stringer mount" drives. I found the two websites above with
the Google search "OMC stringer tilt clutch"
