The Independent Counsel, Kenneth Starr, was not appointed to "nail" Mr. Clinton
for his sexual escapades and peccadillo. He was appointed to investigate the
Clintons' involvement in the failed Whitewater development 20 years before.

Having essentially unlimited funds, staff, time and subpoena power enabled
Inquisitor Starr and his staff to delve into the Paula Jones matter and,
ultimately, to hit "pay dirt" with Monica Lewinsky, arguably the most famous
fellatrice of our time.

But to suggest that uncovering these sexual activities was Mr. Starr's original
purpose is, I believe, incorrect.

That was simply a bonus for him--the payoff after his long, arduous
investigation.

And don't you think he deserved at least that much? And an opportunity to enter
his own erotic prose into the public record? Lord knows, his religious
affiliations would never allow him to write and publish such steamy prose in any
other context!
