Hi all,

Does anyone have any sailing advice for a sailing- stopover I am
planning to Sag Harbor (NY- Long Island). We have a 30 Ft. Catalina
and I would love to know where the moorings fields and/or anchorage
areas would be...before we get there.

Thank you in advance!

Rob

NOAA 12358 ... You'll have to go through the mooring field as soon as
you pass the breakwater ... town transient docks are straight ahead
... SH YC to your port ... if you're coming in from the east, pay
attention to the channels ... some really shoal (rock and sand) stuff
there by the light ... from west it's clearer but you still want to
stay pretty well on course ... sail wise, the west side of Shelter
Island/North Haven (the big land mass you'll either hit or pass no
matter which way you come in .. North Haven is attached to the South
Fork/Sag) probably runs a pretty good current, less coming in from the
east ..I've only gone there in powerboats ... nice place, check out
the museums, expensive/trendy ... check out Shelter Island while
you're there as well ... and Greenport on the North Fork ..
