Good thing you escaped unhurt. Here's hoping your home, etc, fared as well.
===========================
We've been home since Saturday afternoon.
The house escaped major damage but many of our neighbors were not as
fortunate. There's lots of damage everywhere around us. It was a
really bad storm and the worst part hit just ten miles north of here.
Some nearby towns were totally devastated.
Captiva Island north of Sanibel has been cut into three pieces.
Hopefully they'll be able to put it back together again but I'm
concerned that some of our favorite places are probably gone.
It will also be a challenge to get the waterways recharted in that
area. The water was none too deep to begin with and most of the
charts were already inaccurate in important places.
All of that is minor stuff however compared to the thousands who lost
homes and are living in shelters.
We're still without power and have been living on the boat for 4 days
now. The generators are getting a real workout. We've got over 400
gallons of diesel on board so that will last awhile.
Glad you're ok...sounds like a real mess.
