Default OT - Elder Mistreatment

You do not see the whole picture. You are
| seeing only one little part of the picture. When you see the abuse that
| goes on, just as bad as child abuse, then maybe you too would change your
| tune.

The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions...... I've heard it before!
There are many failures by many people with honourable intentions.... don't
label those with these intentions as "assholes".... it's not fair and not
fitting.

You convieniently fail to mention the many cases of abuse by staff of the
"nursing homes" to which some family friends have been subjected to. It's
not always the family that is incapable and inconsiderate of the needs of
their elders.

Yes it's overwhelming at times ... and yes it requires a doubling of the
workload at times. I agree not everyone has the ability to take on such
responsibility... but valiant effort should be guided.. not punished. This
is where the whole situation lacks cohesion..... if care is to be learned
then maybe we should teach and not accuse.

No... I wouldn't change my tune.

I have nobody to look after me in my old age. No children, no wife.... and
siblings that will have their own problems. I'll not become a ward of the
state. I'd sooner die through the failings of someone with "good intentions"
.... but far better to be sailing longer than it's safe for me to handle a
vessel. Too Proud to take charity and way too stubborn to cage!

I have need for no one. I never have and never will...... others are not as
fortunate.
