Winston Churchill, when notified of the beginning of an attack by German
buzz bombs, told his aide that he was going to finish his cigar before
going
to the bomb shelter. He did this repeatedly, ostensibly because smoking
was
disallowed in the shelters. So can we presume that Churchill's brain was
malfunctioning as well, and that he, too, was a semi-literate idiot?

Ummm big difference.
The only one in danger here was Churchill...it was done to show his
resolve in resisting the German psychological attacks.
At the time the opposition party pilloried him for his "smoking delays" in
getting to the shelters, pretty much as the left is doing to Bush for
finishing his kiddie reading session. And the difference probably WAS big.
As the leader of the British, and a figurehead for the Allies, he was
risking his life, and the stability of his country, by his actions. Bush
risked nothing whatsoever.
Fascinating to watch the left wing radicals spin things these days. For
example, any Vietnam vet who supports Kerry is a hero, and any of them who
oppose him are liars.
