Save the 'HMS' Rose / 'HMS' Surprise

Save the 'HMS' Rose / 'HMS' Surprise
Currently this ship - now renamed HMS Surprise - is languishing
apparently sans any crew in San Diego Harbour as a mere tourist
attraction; a left over from the film "Master & Commander."
Previously to that she was owned and operated by the 'HMS' Rose
Foundation for sail training, even sailing across the Atlantic (in a
storm force 11 gale) to the UK and Europe. There she starred in such
places as St. Katherines' Dock near the Tower of London and at Brest
'96 Maritime Festival.
It would be great to get her sailing again. But apparently she's even
without certification.
Does anyone know of any email or fax addresses that we can contact to
put pressure on the current owner - Columbia Pictures - for the return
of the 'HMS' Rose back to sailing condition, and a restart of her sail
training programme?

Your best bet is to locate a port city and get sponsorship. This usually
results in at the least free mooring and none or reduced taxes. Lots
more can be done by tying in other groups and historical societies and
such. Look at mid-sized cities, such as Stockton, CA.
g'Luk, I agree the wilfull neglect of a superb boat is absolutely
abhorrent.
