Problem is that I dont have the lower unit yet and its going to cost me
400.00 to 500.00 bucks to get it so I would like to know ahead of time.

Check the splines count the teeth same amount of teeth.. and assumeing they are
the same lenght shafts, stick it in there and bolt it up AND with the spark
plugs out turn the motor over and hear if it makes any noise. with out engine
on.. shift it into gear and turn the prop if you can turn the engine with the
prop you'll be fine. But just ask a dealer to check and see if the shafts are
the same numbers. If i still had my yamaha microfiche i could tell ya.
