I would say 5hp on a 12ft going up a river.. take it you just wanna stay in
place.. might wanna look into a 9.9/15hp and look for a Fourstroke.. cuz most
lakes won't let you take 2strokes in anymore Yamahas fourstroke 9.9 is a
detuned 15hp unless you can find a used one before 2000 i belive those are the
best in my book Good proven 9.9 yamaha screwed up switching it to the
15fourstroke powerhead
