sizing Anchors
Since you've already talked about staying out for a week, I assume you want a
"full size" primary, not just a lunch hook.
Normally, I use a Delta as a primary, and a Fortress as a secondary/lunch hook.
For your boat, maybe the Delta 14 with 20 feet of chain, and an FX-7 with 6
feet of chain. Half inch New England Rope 3-strand is probably overkill, but
thinner line is harder on the hands if you really have to tug.
Of course, this might be too much gear for you buy at once or to stash. If you
want to go "cheap," a 15 pound Danforth would do, and I'd have at least 20 feet
of chain, maybe even more. The problem I have with Danforths is that they
sometimes release and fail to reset, so if you use one as your primary, make
sure its hefty and has lots of chain - you'll sleep better. Although the
Fortress is great as a secondary, its doesn't make a good primary unless its way
oversized.
That's my 2-bits; I'm curious what others will say.
