So how do you like the boat so far?

We like the boat.- It's comfortable, roomy, and fast enough to be fun if
properly rigged and tuned (although the knotmeeter isn't installed yet).
However, because of my job and other issues, I have only been out on it
three times. - We had a series of days with thunderstorm warnings during
June, and now we are having some pretty oppressive heat.

Word of advice: If you wait for ideal, or even "better" weather, you will
seriously compromise your sailing time.

Thunderstorm warnings are not thunderstorms. Where I sail, the forecasts almost
always include a mention of possible thunder every day from June 1st to whenever
they start warning about impending hurricanes. Thunderstorms are usually pretty
easy to spot from a distance, and you can sail around them.

Rain is no problem at all, as anybody who doesn't like water, should not have a
boat anyway. Rain usually means wind, so take advantage of it.

Oppressive heat? If you don't want a bimini, carry umbrellas to shade you. Any
lubber can think of a million reasons not to sail. Sailors always find a way.

Thanks for the advice. This is Houston, TX, i.e., oppressive heat and
humidity for the next month or so. However, I'm expecting to have more
time off from work in a couple of months, and will get out more often.
