Default Sailing on a fish

"Boat Design Quarterly" 14 by Mike O'Brian, has a article about the
Herreshoff Fish-Class (loa 20'9'') from 1916, and Joel Whites
centreboard version from 1990-something called the Flatfish.

The Fish-class was inspired by the Herreshoff 12½ (loa 16'10'') from
1912. This one was inspired from one or more of the work-boats used
for racing in Bermuda.

"Buzzard Bay 12½", "Buzzard Bay Boys Boat", "Doughdish" (Fiberglas),
"Bullseye" (Marconi) are more or less identical to the 12½.

"Thirty Classic Boat Designs" by Roger C Taylor (McGraw-Hill) has a
chapter (25) on the 12½.

Joel White has also made centreboard versions of both the 12½ called
the "Haven 12½".
Plans of Joel Whites boats are shown in "Forty Wooden Boats"
(Flatfish) "Thirty Wooden Boats" (Haven 12½). Both by Wooden Boat
Publications.

Last night I got to spend 5 hours sailing a Herschoff(?)designed

boat
called a Fish or fisher class. Broker wanted it brought here from
across the bay. It's going to be loaded on a truck tomorrow to go to
Chesapeake bay to the new owner. It was a 20 footer fast and nimble.
What a great boat. Arex core glass boat. The previous owner died so

I
could not find out to much about the boat cept they have been making
that design since 1912. A broker bought this bristol one for 20K and
claims he will get 28K for it in the Cheasapeake area. Anyone know
anymore about the fish class boat?

Thanks
Joe
