Is the Hunter 285 a slug?
It's not a bad looking boat, for a Hunter. We were both close-hauled,
adjusting for the light shifting wind. I thought I'd be courteous and pass
him to leeward. I kept getting his dirty air. So I pinched up, and passed
to windward.

I passed one the other day like it was sitting still, (in lite air).
Maybe
it was the sailor?.
Don't know what the one you saw was doing and I don't know how fast
they are
but I do know that they were used for the Liberty Cup in N.Y. one year.
On another note I think they are a pretty good value at times. Mid 80s
28
footer, standing headroom, H&C pressure water, inboard diesel, not bad
looking,
decent amount of sail area. I've seen them advertised as low as the mid
teens.
