You obviously haven't read the actual account of the situation,
nor listened to his fellow sailors. They don't give out Silver Stars
just because.

medals were for beaching his Swift boat (a real no no) and running ashore
to
shoot a single VC who was already down and half dead from being shot by

boats 50 cal. Others have said they don't know why he wasn't court
martialed
for beaching the boat.
