| Has anyone here actually seen a shark attack or the victim of one?
| Raise your hands... yes, I've seen the aftermath up close.
|
| No, But I had my leg cut to the bone dealing with a manta ray. And I
| had a deck hand have his hand sucked into as turbo charger.
|
|
| I was walking down the beach in north county San Diego. Came
| across a guy standing in the shallow surf in a deserted section of
| the beach, just him and his girl friend. He was standing in a sloshing
| pool of blood, she was hysterical. He was clearly in shock... just
| standing there.
|
| Never let anyone in shock just stand there. Elevate the wound, calm
| him, stop the bleeding and get help.
|
|
| I got him on dry land, then took a look at his foot/
| ankle area. A big piece was missing/hanging on the lower back calf.
| I figured he didn't have much time because of loss of blood, didn't
| have anything to tie it off or compress it.
|
| Should of snached off her top or bra, wimp.
|
| His gf was not in any shape
| to go and get help. So, after a lot of coaxing, I got her to help him
| compress the wound with their hands. Then, I went for help.
| Fortunately, I was much younger and the normal 40 minute trip
| took only about half that time.
|
| when I had my leg cut to the bone I did not even notice it, Luckly a
| friend was swimming with me and pointed out the big cloud of blood. Im
| sure if I spent any time in the water Hector would of had my ass.
|
| I never went back after the paramedics
| went for him, but I heard he was ok.
|
| Yeah you gotta lose many pints before you die. I lost approx 5 pints
| in my ordeal. Thats what they gave me anyway. It was at the island of
| Deigo Garcia close to the fishing barge. We were snorkeliong the reefs
| and hitched a ride on a Manta ray that had a wing span of approx 16
| feet. My buddy grabed him at the wrong place and he freaked, when he
| did his tail cut me like a sword on the back of my leg and you could
| see the bone. Damn thing was as sharp as a scaple and I did not even
| feel it.
|
| It still bothers me were the cut was the deepest, the circulation has
| never been the same, but thats the price I paid to mess around with
| the wildest creatures the sea has to offer. If you want to experience
| the sea and its creature you better be willing to pay the price.

| DO NOT CLICK this link if you are bothered by gore.
|
| This is the result of a powerboat accident, injuries inflicted by
| propellers.
|
| If nothing else, this ought to instill deep respect for how
dangerous a
| spinning prop can be!!!
