Default Sunday's Rainy Sail

Hit a nerve, did I? Heh heh. Smokers are such easy targets........

Hey Donal. If it's OK for you to dump butts on the beach because
they're biodegradable (in geological time...) I assume you have no
probs with people taking a dump on the beaches if they feel like it? If
not, why not?

Enjoy your time on earth because it doesn't rain in hell.

You calling Australia hell buddy?

A country that has people who sift sand for decomposing cigarrette butts
sounds like hell to me!

Only to smokers who care so little about other people that they dump
their butts instead of taking them home.

Oh, for God's sake Peter, you really need to get a life!

True story. Friend of mine was on Maria Island (a historic site) with a
group of friends, staying in one of the refurbished buildings with a
full length verandah. One of her friends was bitching about people
leaving rubbish about in such an environment. Asked my friend why she
has such a dubious look on her face, at which time Kate said that she
really couldn't see the difference between people tossing lolly
wrappers, orange peels etc and other people tossing cigarette butts.

Well, well, I'm truly shocked! Orange peels??? Where will it all end? I
can just imagine that you lie awake at night, in a panic about the imminent
threat of anhiliation that carelessly discarded banana skins will surely
bring to all of us!

The original complainant was a smoker and had been tossing her butts
over the verandah rail. She went red in the face and started picking up
her butts, as did a couple other smokers in earshot who'd been doing
the same thing.

If you can't figure out the message from this, Donal, perhaps it's time
to deflate your defensive self-righteousness.

Nonsense.

It's about time that you got off of your high horse and considered the
*true* impact of cigarette butts on the environment!

I believe that you often sail on a small ship. Last year, I was in the
middle of the English Channel on the second day of a high pressure. I was
shocked to see that the horizon was *yellow*. This was the result of *one*
day's pollution from ships.

Tell me, does *your* ship burn clean fuel?

Once sufficient people
decide you don't have the right to litter public places, you don't get
to smoke there if that's what it takes.

Does your ship produce pollution?

You can carry a full pack of butts in with you. WTF is so difficult
about carrying the used butts out?

Can your ship take it's pollution home?

Regards

Donal
