Several dead give aways Ol Thom. Like a fishing vessel with no fishing
gear riding high in the water, or unwilling to answer a radio, no
running lights, vectoring in on you after you change course, unwilling
to alter course when you fire across the bow ect... We do not have any
pirates I know of in the gulf but Ive seen a lot of drug runners and
its odvious what they are doing by location and the way they act
Just use common sence, they are not going to be flying a jolly roger
but in the open ocean most sane sensiable people that approach another
vessel are going to make contact dont ya think? Even then its smart
to keep them covered as they come along side. If they are not asking
for trouble I do not think anyone would be upset that you are armed
and not taking any risk. Most people that get raided are dumb enough
to let people board under a ruse. Like wanna buy fish, have water,
need fuel, anything that will get you to let your guard down. There
aint no sheriff gonna come to the rescue so your on your own.
