Perhaps John was on vacation during that exchange, I thought
Donal was referencing that fiasco also, however reading his
response that was not his intention, though it would have
been his style.

You are 100% correct. Dammit! I missed a big opportunity.

Story of your life Donal :-)

There is a real issue problem in sailing between Greece and Turkey. The
problem is compounded by the proximity of some of the Greek islands to

the
Turkish mainland. Kos is only 2 miles from the Turkish mainland, and it

is
about 400 miles from the Greek mainland! If you are sailing around

Bodrum
(Turkey), then you need to be careful to avoid straying into Greek

waters.

Or alternately straying into Turkish waters.
There are some restricted/military zones along the Turkish coast and
it's not unusual to be warned off by a gunboat.
Still, it's not a particularly onerous task to sail between the two
countries provididng you allow a couple of hours for paperwork..not
that there's a lot, it just takes the authorities a long time to fill
in forms.
DO NOT buy diesel on the islands!!!

Donal
