Default Depthsound query

On the Nonsuch I glued the cheap transom mount transducer for an Apelco 260
inside the hull. I didn't think there was much loss of sensitivity - I got
soundings down to 200 feet, and always had a clear picture. I liked it so much
I requested the 262 for the PDQ. They used the standard through-hull mount
towards the bow, and frankly, its not as good. Its so sensitive I have trouble
when following powerboats.

Fortunately, however, since the 262 (now RayMarine) is a FishFinder, even when
the signal gets garbled its easy to tell what's going one. If your simple
sounder hits some bubbles from a wake all you see is a "4 Feet" reading, with no
indication of what's going on.

I'm about to pick up a new depthsounder for the C&C 32 and the Standard

Horizon
DS45 is on the list. They also sell an in-hull puck type transducer. Sounds
like more fun that fighting to get the old one out.
The C&C 32 is solid glass below the waterline. What will I lose in terms of
performance vs. traditional thru-hull. Any loss in acuracy?

Thanks,
