Basic Sailing Terms for the Weak Minded
Nav,
Heeling on a mono rotates the tip of the mast in a reduction of height
Flying a hull on a Cat increases the effective height of the mast
Nutsy makes a stupid statement that a Cat with one hull lifted becomes a
counter weighted mono. BS it does. It is a hull in the water without a
mast. The mast that is driving it is gaining in height by the action of
the vessel lifting ( flying the windward hull) I do have a problem
calling this "Heeling" The sail is still above the vessel where in a
mono the sail goes outside the gunnel about 12 to 15 degress heel. What
ever, just my thoughts.
