So, I will offer you my opinion:
My favourite Caribbean islands used to be Dominica followed by St.
Vincent and Grenada. Further down there is Tobago and Trinidad, well
worth the visit. Why not visit Venezuela and maybe go down to the 3
Guyanas. To go to the Guyanas is a fairly long upwind sail, but at
least you should have no trouble coming back.
In my opinion the least interesting islands are St Thomas and St
Martin. St Jan and the BVI's follow pretty close.
The above is based on my preference for the "old" Caribbean, and my
dislike of the tourist industry. I say this well aware that I am a
tourist myself, and I have often found it convenient to go to the
mayor Cruising spots like English Harbour, Rodney bay or St Thomas to
stock, work or even to meet friends, but still I prefer to visit
places where people live "their own life" as opposed to places where
the
international tourist industry dominates everything.
I prefer dealing with the sometimes annoying boatboys from St Vincent
and other places from dealing with the well oiled Club Mediterainne
and the likes.

Bob misspoke (par usual): The fact that you've logged onto this one
speaks volumes about your
feelings about material wealth and security as a whole.
The fact that I logged on to this thread is because I was interested
in the topic of sailing beyond the BVI...you just happened to raise
your ugly head in the middle of it and perverted it with your
rantings. Your narcissism is running away with itself. Better go
catch it.
