This appears to be Typical North American concept: If Things are Going
Well, it's "The government is interfering too much with our lives!", but
if something Goes Wrong, it's "Why doesn't the Government DO something??"

If you want "energy independance", start at home. The average home "on the
grid" uses about 1.2 kw average (ie 30 kw-hrs per day) (This is in BC,
Canada. Donno about the rest of N.A, but I suspect it's at least this
much).The average home that's "off the grid" (ie uses solar, wind, etc. to
power the house) the figure is closer to 500 Watts (less than half!).

And we won't even GO INTO the blatant over-use of automobiles!
