Best I might be able to do is some dinghy sailing, they had some dinghies
and small cats at Wilderness Lodge, hoping they have the same thing at
Universal. This is somewhat of a compromise, the Florida thing came before
my idea to try chartering in the Leewards. Something I have discussed with
the wife is chartering on the Gulf Coast, I've seen a few articles on
charters in the panhandle and Ft. Myers area and it doesn't look too bad.
Every time I've suggested sailing on one of these Fla. vacations nothing's
ever come of it, for various reasons. The wife isn't in the best of health
so we really do need to make the compromises, she does keep me on a fairly
long leash after all, has never complained about any of my sailing junkets
or racing, for that matter.

Twice, when passing by Cape Canaveral, we stopped for a week in
Titusville,
rented a car, and did day trips to Disney. Maybe you could get some
gunkholing
in while the family is off visiting Mickey (or is it Jurassic park?).

Yeah, I noticed the crack about "annual vacation", this is where we're
going
for the "semi-annual" family vacation
http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/orlando/website/ though that is
probably an incorrect term as I am going on a Bahamas sailing junket
myself
at the end of March, so I guess that would make it a tri-seasonal
vacation.
The Leewards thing is my payback for going to Universal, though it was
my
idea, the wife originally suggested DisneyWorld, I thought a change of
pace
would be nice, and we can always visit DisneyWorld from Universal as
they
have almost continuous shuttles between the various parks. If I can get
a
break during racing season and we enjoy the Leewards, will probably take
the
boy and his best friend there in the summer.
