Once the other side has nukes, war's not much of an option. We had a
space race once before, and that didn't turn into all-out war. It
came close, but no (Cuban) cigar. I don't see why this race with
China would be more tense than the original cold war. Maybe less
tense, because our instant communication and surveillance is more
sophisticated. Frankly, I worry more about Europe (France and
Germany). These days, they seem more mentally unbalanced than the
Chinese.
