Best Catalina design?
I like the Catalina 30 too. I was very
impressed with the amount of space it had.
It is a nice little cruiser.
I've seen the Catalina 36 from the outside
and I love the way it looks, but I never
sailed one. They tend to be expensive.
I've sailed the Capri 22 and loved it, but
it was way over canvased for SF bay. I
recommended they cut two feet off the boom.
Later someone had the sense to put cut
used Rhodes 18 mains and that helped.
Tell us more about the Capri 37. If it is
like the Capri 22 I bet I'd love it.
What do they sell for?

The Capri 37. Not very roomy for it's length but
they're not expensive and they sail great. Very
good looking boat too IMHO.
I wouldn't disagree that the Catalina 22 is one of
the great designs, if allowances are made for era.
In it's day it was the best trailerable cruiser,
but now I think there are dozens of better boats.
If your criteria are cruisability and cost, then
the Catalina 30 should be considered. Not to take
around Cape Horn, of course.
