Strainer in the drain? Bit of screen?

We have a sump, too, but several times a grape or one of those little
carrots has managed to work its' way into the tubing and thenI've had a
backup of mel****er in the box...annoying...or if Mr Sails spills something
and doesn't wipe it up (almost a given) and it goes down and then I have to
pour down some bleach or baking soda and vinegar...
