I just called and sadly learned that Depco would have to buy my pump from
Westerbeke to sell to me -- at full manufacturer price of course. It seems
that it's a custom pump for my particular engine. Thanks again. It was worth
a try.

Len,
I called them for prices.
As for whether their price is competitive: I found a wide variation on
price
for my raw water pump from different vendors. One well-known vendor in the
midwest wanted $275 for it (!!), and the local Captain's Locker (Long
Beach,
Ca) wanted $180. (Captain's Locker's prices are ok generally.) Depco has
the
pump for $137. This is for an Oberdorfer, model 202-M15 (their catalog, p.
95).
As for part number, they were able to come up with that for me just by
providing them with my engine model information.

Thank you Alan! Good resource.
Didn't see prices in their website catalog. I take it you called them.
What percentage savings would you say they offered vs. authorized
distributor of engine manufacturer?
Also noted that certain internal parts of a particular pumps seem
specific
to the engine manufacturer. Is Depco able to supply these, or must you
get
them from an authorized distributor of engine manufacturer?

Len,
I don't know the answer myself, but here is a good resource for you:
www.depcopump.com. Their folks in tech support are very helpful. They
do
pump rebuilds, as well as sell parts and entirely new pumps. Compared
to
the
other places I checked their prices seemed quite good. (I'm replacing
the
raw water pump on my Universal M25XP.) Check out their on-line
catalog.

Seeking advice on how to remove and replace raw water pump seals on
Westerbeke 30B3. Techniques and tools to use for do-it-yourselfer
would
be
appreciated. Does the shaft and or bearing need to be removed?
