Default So Sad....

It seems like you were just talking about getting out on the mooring
a couple months ago. Time sure flies. Your sailing season is really
short up there. How can you profess to love sailing yet you manage
to do without it nine months out of the year. That's what's really
so sad . . .

We tarped today. Too bad...so sad....Rowed out to the mooring can when we first got to the lake to discover they had picked up our
tackle when they took Chanteuse in. It was a beautiful day and the trees are just about at peak for color..lake was a bit chilly
( had to wade the dinghy out to get enough water to float it since Mr Sails was sitting in the stern because he couldn't get his
jeans rolled up...knew I shouldn't have worn shorts...) We took a stroll through Torresen's yard (first year we've wintered there)
and saw some really unique boats. There's an old woodie in the back of the lot..about 23-24 feet made of solid mahogany that is
just about at the stage where it might not be restorable if someone doesn't jump quick..had to drag Mr Sails away...been there, done
that..never again. Lake Michigan was pretty flat with a nice breeze of about 10 knots going. Lots of sail out on Muskegon Lake.
Too bad the last two weekends were so miserable. We were very impressed at the way out mast was stored. Instead of just thrown on
the mast rack with a bunch of tape around the shrouds and stays, everything is neatly bundled and tied down. We also discovered
what's wrong with out wind machine...seems "someone" (former yard) gave it quite a knock last year when they stepped. It's really
bent. We brought it home to see if there's anything we can do to fix it. On the way home we stopped at a country stand and bought
squash, apples, pears and some honey. There's a huge hunter's moon out tonight and they're predicting a few more nice days before
things turn back to normal. I am not looking forward to winter.
