Default Weekend Boating Report

We spent Saturday fixing up a few more odds & ends on
Delilah: Found a permanent mouting place for the anchor
in a "bilge" area. Wired in a bilge blower. Cut a few spots
of carpet for the floors. Put on a new set of spark-plug
wires, Re-torqued the head-bolts. Mounted the "keel-roller"
assembly on the trailer. Put on the engine-cover-box.

On Sundy morning we headed over top Hudson NY to try
our third day of boating. The launch ramp there is free and
has docks you can tie up to while waiting to launch or
retreive. ~ We got into the water about 9:45 and headed
north. Right away we were much happier with the sceanery
when compared to going to local lakes. Much more interesting
nature to see and the feeling of "going somewhere" rather than
just around and around the lake was inspiring.

After about 20 minutes we turned around and headed back
so we could drop off my brother and niece as they had
somewhere else they needed to be. Dad and I then decided
to check the torqe on the head bolts. All of them moved some
and a couple of them moved quite a bit.

We headed out again - just a bit south and up the other side
of an island. We found a place marked "Deli" and stopped
to check it out. Met a couple of nice people. One guy knows
of someone that does welding on cast-iron which we may
need to fix a leak in our exhaust manifold. The same guy
might also might give us an engine block that is the same
as our engine.

We headed South and found another restaurant with a riverside
bar. Then we cruised a few miles down to the Catskill Marina
to check that out. (Gas was $2.59 there, more like $2.05 on land
in NY and $1.95 on land in MA).

On the run back to the boat-ramp I opened up the engine to
3100 RPM. In previous trials the transmission had slipped
every time we reached 2500 RPM. We had adjusted it
"half a step" according to a manual I got online. That seems
to have done the tirck. Yea!

We loaded back on the trailer OK. Still having some problems
getting the nose of the boat up into the bow stops. It's fine
where the ramps are "shallow" but where they're steep it's
more difficult. We had a Come-Along with us and that helped
some. So we've decided to go ahead and mount a winch on
the trailer.
