Looks like "Available Light" is the preferred term. Under this
websight's listing for "Existing Light", it says "see Available Light"

Yup "preferred term" on websites and in magazines.
EL is such a common term that light kit practical gag lights are called Els or
"L's."
Seems like you know about as much about photography as you do about sailing!!!
