And one can stop right there. 'Reportedly' is a synonym for 'bull****'. I'm
surprised any 'writer' would actually give such an article any credibility.

It would be a lot easier to dismiss it as bull**** if it didn't have
the ring of truth to it, and if it wasn't consistent with some of
Trump's recent actions - actions like firing secretary of defense Mark
Esper for refusing to invoke the insurrection act in June of this year
among other things.

I stand by my comment, regardless of ringing.

Not all ringing is from sleigh bells.
What would be your reaction to a declaration of martial law because of
the election results?
Most likely the same as yours. All officers have taken this oath:
"I, A.B., do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic; that
I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation
freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will
well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to
enter. So help me God."
Note that it does not say to follow any unlawful orders, which I'm sure is the
way that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff sees it.
