Considering the world's apathy toward what's going on in Hong Kong, it
wouldn't surprise me. The only question is whether it is worth a

I read it but I think the real result will be Japan waving a nuke or
two in the air. They are fully capable of the technology, even if the
US didn't just give them some like we did for Israel. That is a domino
that might not be so easy to topple. If we are really so worried about
Taiwan itself, why wasn't there more pressure to keep Hong Kong?
As for the Philippines, they chose to leave the US and kicked us out.

the Capacity" to defend Taiwan but it doesn't say we will do it.

We have seen language like that before. We just said we would
"Taiwanese" the war. I bet you remember what that meant in 1974-5

Our official stance is "not our circus, not our money". We don't have
formal relations with Taiwan and we don't admit it is not part of

We can't and shouldn't go to war with China over Taiwan. But, to me, it's a much
bigger matter than the Black Lives Matter issue going on in this country.
