At first it seemed strange that Russia seemed to be avoiding
any major spread of covid-19.

On March 1st they only had 2 confirmed cases and by March 11th
(a month ago) only had 20.

April 1st, they were up to 2,777

Today they are up to 13,584

I wonder if that is a reporting issue or just a travel restriction
thing. I assume this is not the old Soviet Russia and they do get
around more tho.
I tend to lean towards a simple reporting and detection issue tho.
If they weren't looking for it, they may have let it get lost in the
seasonal flu category. Now that they know what they are looking for,
we may see much higher numbers out of them.

I will say, I doubt there was this much attention paid to any disease
in history. We had pandemics in the past that were far deadlier but
there was no day to day reporting with the plague. They didn't even
understand what it was at the time.

Perhaps you should do whatever you can to expose yourself to it. After
all...

Are you just trying to be a jerk? What does that have to do with
anything I wrote.
