How so, exactly? Didn't we have enough on hand to defeat the tiny

When you cobble equipment with canabalized parts because budget doesn’t allow for new, you have results like Operation Eagle Claw. And that was a major turning point in Jimmys attempt for re-election
Bull****.
We don't need more warships, we need fewer, and fewer are easier to
maintain and budget parts for, too.
The problem with Eagle Claw was that Carter had an irrational belief
in the Navy and would not use the appropriate Army helicopters that
had filters on the air intakes so they could operate in the desert.
Their pit stop took out so many of them that the had to call the whole
thing off. It got worse from there. We also were not prepared for
desert warfare because they were not training for it so a little sand
storm took out a good chunk of the evacuating force. Look up cluster
**** in the military dictionary and there is a picture of Operation
Eagle Claw with that smiling jackass Carter standing there..
This country's infrastructure is crumbling, we have serious public
health issues, we have dozens of other problems. Spending more on the
military is not the solution.
The DoD budget is just a big white collar jobs program. Since everyone
is bound by prevailing union contracts (Davis Bacon) you should be
thrilled.
