it out and had PB&J sandwiches for dinner. Groundhog was tougher
than a rawhide belt."

Next time put your teeth in first...could help.

"I was about 12 years old at the time. Hadn't started smoking yet,
so didn't have teeth problems. I
suppose you've eaten some tender groundhog?"

Don't recall seeing that in the display cases at my local supermarket.

You didn't? Gosh, neither did I. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing
rodents for sale in the meat display case, nor do I recall eating
rodents. Must be a Missouri thing.

They have rabbit at the store some time.

Not where I shop.

They used to have rabbit at the Giant. It was farmed but it was still
rabbit. Have you actually looked? It was in the freezer case with the
duck, goose and other non traditional American meat. It was a small
box, local from the Eastern Shore of Maryland as I recall. I never
liked farmed rabbit. It always had a "soapy" taste to me.

Used to carry it at the Safeway also. Stopped quite a while back.

In the rodent section next to squirrels and rats? Does Mrs. Luddite prepare
these for dinner?

You probably don't like frog legs either.

I've tried them. Not something I'd order. Once, on a trip to New
Orleans a restaurant offered a "sampler" of soups that included small
servings of turtle soup, crocodile, shark and something else I can't
remember. I tried them all but again, wouldn't order it on a regular
basis.

I don't care to think about what I ate at the daily "banquets" attended
during my trip to China (PRC) in 1986. "Tastes like chicken". Ha!

Other societies don't have the same hang-ups about food as we do. Monkey, dog, horse... all acceptable meats in some parts of the world.

It's pretty silly to put someone down for shooting and eating a wild animal.. Some folks just don'tr have the stomach, and prefer someone else do their dirty work for them. And I'm not talking about you, Mr. Ludd.

When the apocalypse comes, country boys will survive. Panty-waisted basement dwellers won't.
