Craft Hobby pays off
Mrs.E. has been making those Paracord bracelets for the past month or so
as a craft hobby. She bought some kind of jig, orders the paracord and
clasps from Amazon and whips out half a dozen of them in a few hours.
The plastic clasps have a compass, a tiny knife, a fish hook and a
flint built into them. In an emergency the paracord can be unwoven
and used as a fishing line or for other purposes. Anyway, she's been
making dozens of them in various colors and styles and giving them away.
So, the other day she discovered that the air conditioning in her car
stopped working. Called the dealership and found out it was just out
of warranty (over 36,000 miles). They quoted her about $750 to fix.
She made an appointment anyway even after I told her I could probably
just charge it up with the Freon available at AutoZone that also has
seal conditioner in it.
When they called her and told her it was fixed and ready to pick up
she brought 6 of her paracord bracelets and gave them to all the guys
at the service counter. She said they were like a bunch of kids
inspecting them and fighting over who got which color and size.
The service manager (the guy I dealt with with my infamous Pathfinder
experience) then tore up her invoice and printed a new one.
All parts and labor were "No Charge".
She was proud of herself.
