Anyone used this? I'm thinking it sounds like a ripoff.
My wife has always had an iPhone and pays for the warranty plan.
She has had to replace her phone a couple of times due to damage
caused by her ... not a problem with the phones.
I use an Android phone and have never bought any kind of extended
warranty for them. I had an issue once with it, took it to the
nearest Verizon store and they fixed it ... no charge.
Don't know but at first blush it sounds like a rip off. I suppose it
depends on what the warranty covers. If it's just to fix issues that
may arise to the phone that isn't a result of anything you did, it's
definitely a rip off. If it covers damage done by the user ... broken
glass or a dunk in the water or something like that I guess it depends
on how clumsy the owner is.
My philosophy about purchasing warranty contracts is simple. I don't.
If I buy something, I expect it to work as advertised and designed.
If it doesn't, I'll return it if possible or I just won't buy that
product again.
My wife usually buys "insurance" which covers just about anything you
can do to a phone. Since she has lost one overboard in the boat and
had a couple broken at work, it was worth doing for her.
I think that's what my wife has also on her iPhone. It's not a
warranty. It's insurance to replace the phone when she leaves it
on the top of her car and it smashes to the ground and gets run over.
