This guy definitely qualifies.

The stripes on the arm of his jacket are called "hash marks". Each
stripe indicates completion of four years of service. This dude has 11
of them, so he has served for over 44 years.

The Navy uniform "Crow" and hash marks start out as being red in color.
After 12 years of service and 4 Good Conduct awards they are changed to
gold.

If you screw up while wearing gold, they go back to red and you start
over again.

So what's his rank. It looks like the Marine is a bit 'underdressed' for the function.

Master Chief. (E-9) Highest enlisted rank in Navy, above Senior Chief
(E-8) and Chief (E-7).

Thanks. My 'underdressed' comment referred to the Marine in the first photo.

Yup everyone is in their Class A and he looks like he was just out on
maneuvers

I checked his chevrons. He is also an E-9

You've got better eyes than I do. Looks like only two rockers to me.

Yeah. I downloaded it and enlarged it in Infraview. Think you're correct.

Surely you mean Irfanview. I've loved that program for a long, long time. It is *so* easy to use.

Yup, I meant Irfanview. I always screw up the name of that program.

I think it was Iview when I first started using it, back in the late 90's. Been a very reliable
program.

It's a great program for viewing and doing limited editing of images.
For more demanding edits I use a free program called "Gimp". Similar to
Photoshop and is easy to learn.

You told me about Gimp. I think it's the most downloaded with Irfanview taking second. I don't do
any real 'demanding' edits. I can't think of anything Irfanview wouldn't handle though. Just about
everything imagineable has been added over the years.

Sometimes I create some humor intended "photoshops" using Gimp. It does
much, much more than Irfanview which is fine for cropping, resizing or
adjusting brightness and color balances.

In fact, if you have visited my Facebook page, the image of my wife and
I (in much younger days) with the beach background was done using Gimp.

Gimp can make you look much younger? That should be a popular
feature. :-)
