First I will say this is a dumb idea and I understand Trump is just
fulfilling a campaign promise. Hasn't anyone told him you don't really
have to do all of that ****? ;-)
The thing that does surprise me is nobody has pointed out that this is
good for the recycling business? Every aluminum can you toss in the
bin is another 15 grams of tariff free aluminum entering the pipeline.
For the most part recycling is a make work boondoggle that drains our
pockets and pollutes more than simply sending trash to the landfill
but in the case of metal, just about any metal, it is actually a
valuable operation.
Perhaps that is why we have scrappers when times are tough, Scrap
metal has value.
