The questions I raised remain. You don't know **** about Cruz or about
the legal processes that have to be followed for *requiring* an
evaluation or treatment or what an individual has to say for the police
to be called in. And, since you don't know generally or the particulars
in this case, you are just spouting.

So after defending an ineffective FBI you are now defending a failing
mental health industry.

Florida's "Baker Act" and similar acts in other states do not allow much
latitude in forcing evaluation and further treatment after evaluation.

Bull****. It is just a revolving door where people *might* be held for
up to 72 hours but it seems to generally be over night. If they can
wake up feeling "all better" and survive a 20 minute "evaluation"
without ranting. biting foaming at the mouth or chewing on the
furniture, they get tossed back to the family or turned out on the
street. I am sure some medical professionals would disagree but this
is what the families and the cops who haul them in time after time
say.
If they can't maintain for a few hours, they stay for 3 days but they
still get kicked loose, particularly if they don't qualify for
Medicaid or have very good private insurance. A bronze plan is not
going to cut it.

I notice you fellas, just like your hero, Trump, aren't mentioning the
easy availability of the sorts of firearms favored by these school,
church, parking lot, Vegas hotel shooters. You don't often read about
these sorts of horrors perpetrated by youngsters happening in Canada,
France, Great Britain, Australia, Germany, et cetera. This sort of
violence...mass murder committed by school kids and deranged adults...is
a peculiarly "American" phenom.

"Murder" as a whole is an american problem. Life is cheap here. More
people are killed with bare hands here than get killed with these
"assault rifles" and twice as many people get killed with edged
weapons.
Most murders happen with handguns, not legally purchased and most are
involved with a violent drug trade or other gang activity. That is the
real thing that separates us from Europe. They can manage to sell
drugs without killing each other.
