Took the boat out yesterday, and would run god for a couple minutes, then
lose power. Test the fuel and when I pumped fuel into plastic jug, lots
of water in bottom. and had a bunch of water in the fuel water separator.
I think the tank may be 3/4full. 69gallon tank. Will pump the fuel to a
barrel and most likely dispose of at the local hazardous waste facility.
Can I pump with the normal fuel pickup, or should I pull sender and put a
hose to inside bottom corner?

You can usually just siphon the gas out and I would definitely use a
separate hose. No need to further contaminate your fuel system. What
kind of gas are you running now (ethanol?)
Once you get all of the bad gas out (and that may not need to be all
of it) I would give it a dose of E-10 high test. That will soak up any
water that is left and boost up the octane on the phase separated gas
you have (assuming ethanol). If this is E-0 you really need to just
get out as much water as you can and let some E-10 get the rest.
It is not as much trying to save the gas as it is not having to
dispose of it. Most places do not like to take gasoline, even at toxic
waste places.

Alameda county will take gasoline. I am looking for a barrel to hold the
old gas. It is E-10. Hard to find methanol free fuel here in the granola
state,

Your local airport should have it in the General Aviation area.

Yeah $5.46 a gallon.
Maybe it is just because my boat doesn't really sit around unused but
I still burn Shell E-10 regular and have no trouble at all. With my
Publix coupon gift cards and the Shell rewards card I am paying 88
cents a gallon next time I go (20 gallons) based on $2.25 at the pump.
BTW if you have a master card and get the shell card, you save money
based on most things you charge (up to $1.20 a gallon). Publix is one
of them so I get a rebate at the pump when I am buying a $50 gift card
for $40.
I am mad I did not sign up sooner.
