Danny, thank you for stating what is so painfully obvious. In the real,
external world you are responsible for yourself. That implies you are
responsible for your own self defense. Man, as a rational tool making animal
has created the fire arm to protect the products of his labours, his family
and his God given right to his own life.
Nah Gilly, he created it to kill stuff easily and quickly.
He tired of the endless chase and the risks involved in that chase and
capture so invented a tool where he could hide away safe and destroy
whatever his wish.
In doing that he became so weak that many feel they can no longer
survive without the use of this tool.
Yes, some criminals use firearms for evil, but the very argument that calls
for their ban is even greater to call for the ban of a social programs, for
the evil in them is greater in breadth and depth.
Is it criminal to hunt down and kill a mighty beast because you covet
the sign of his might be it rack, hide or tusk? Is it criminal to
perform that killing from a "safe distance" using a high powered
weapon with telescopic sight so as to give the beast absolutely no
chance of using his defensive tools for flight or possibly even fight?
Since the downfall of firearm training, ownership and availability America
has gone downhall. Gone are the days of stacks of M-1 Garands in the backs
of high school classrooms. Gone are the days of ROTC watercooled machine gun
practice on the varsity football field. America is no longer a nation of
responsible individuals, but rather a nation of helpless victims - too
incompetent to run their own lives, they need a greater body of incompetents
to run it for them.
Yep, no argument here;-)
You are right Danny, for the most part they are incompetent, fearful wimps -
especially in the coastal areas.
Danny, ever lived more than 100 miles from the coast?
There's still places in America where men
can be men but they are becoming fewer and fewer. Thank God for people like
you who can call a spade a spade. It brings back the memories of the Golden
Age of Captain Neal, a man so dedicated to truth, justice and the American
way that he stood head and shoulders above the crowd. Thanks for shining the
brilliant torch of truth and reason on an otherwise dark place.
Jeez, I'm slow today... better get a coffee and turn on the heat.
Oh and Gilly, be careful not to bite your tongue.
