I think murder is too strong a word for Teddy's transgression. You or
I in the same circumstances would probably have been charged with
felony Vehicular Manslaughter.

Felony DUI manslaughter can get you 20+ years (about the same as 2d
degree murder).

The primary difference is intent.

"Depraved Indifference" = 2d degree murder
To be drunk and driving around is bad enough but to go off and leave a
girl drowning in a car and not even call anyone until the next day is
depraved indifference to human life.
I suppose if I was a conspiracy guy like Harry, I might even say there
is a chance she was dead when he pushed the car off the bridge. Dead
girls tell no tales.

I very much doubt that it was intentional but I do think he likely
would have been indicted for something in any other state.
